Refresh Jacksonville
Refresh is a community of designers and developers working to refresh the creative, technical and professional aspects of new media endeavors. The Jacksonville chapter started in early 2006 and has discussed dozens of topics from developing with Rails to maximizing social media use for search engine optimization to launching a web startup.
Approach
We needed to create a slick, modern tech feel to give the audience the sense that Refresh was the pulse of the web industry and the best place to learn and share what was going on. It was critical in launching the program that it appealed to both the über geek and the noob, the designer and the developer, the information architect and the writer. In other words, it had to be cool.
A hi-tech feel was created by using a color palette of bright blues and whites. The mix of the rigid and pixilated “RE” with the rounded futuristic “fresh” allows the logo to have multiple messages for the different audiences. The “RE” doubles as a spotlight metaphor as well as a “response to” element. The “fresh” side is smooth and flowing which hints towards the freshness of learning and sharing knowledge. Combined they create a seamless integration of technology and education of what’s now and what’s next.
