Approach

A core idea needed to be created that designers could associate with. Something that made them feel they weren’t alone in the challenges they faced, and that there was a solution to get back to a time when they felt on top of their craft. A time when it was fun to be a designer.

In order to connect with the designers, a core concept of everyone having a creative monster inside of them was developed. This theme was played out throughout every aspect of the conference, even going so far as to create the Creative Monster Research Institute, which would help you find out what was wrong with your creative monster. The look was inspired from 1960s technology with big buttons, beakers and Bunsen burners. Most elements were in black and white using color only for emphasis. All materials involved a low-tech analog feel including the website, training video, lab coats and conference badges.
