Austin Symphony
The Austin Symphony Orchestra is a cultural gem in a city well-known for its active arts scene.
Approach
One of the oldest performing arts groups in Austin is also among the most dynamic. The Austin Symphony Orchestra called on nGen Works to create a web site that would capture that energy and have the same accessibility as the orchestra’s itself.
nGen Works’ assignment was to build a site that would be as user-friendly for fans of the group’s youth-oriented community concerts as it would be for the most seasoned classical music aficionados. We accomplished this with a design that’s clean and sophisticated but made approachable by including unexpected elements, such as messages from the orchestra’s conductor on the home page set in a handwriting-style type. Another important goal was our integration with the organization’s existing online ticketing system, which accounts for 60 percent of its ticket sales, compared to 20 percent in other, less “wired” cities. We also integrated an Expression Engine CMS that allows the staff to easily update its constantly changing list of upcoming events.
