On the nGen Works website redesign

Carl’s video posts looked like fun, so I thought I’d take a stab at one, myself. Instead of my usual long-winded writing, here’s an equally long-winded talk about the process of redesigning our website to fit with our new brand. It includes discussion of the process I used to paint the broad strokes of the design, how we worked together as a team, an individual feature I’m proud of, and the font drama we had at launch.

Cool overview of the design process behind the redesign. Thanks for sharing that, looking forward to more of these.

I’m going to definitely try the Inside-Out method. I usually do the landing page first but it makes a lot of sense to define the inside page elements first considering the landing page usually has more unique styles.

I’m with Zach. The inside-out sounds like a good plan. Great post. So good I took notes.

Good job! I really like the insight shared here. I’ve seen Jeff on camera twice, and both time he had a Dribbble shirt on.

That was great, looking forward to more! And couldn’t agree more with the type foundries/post-Napster record labels analogy.

Truly inspiring post. Just the motivation we needed to redesign our own site.

I’m amazed HFJ sent a cease-and-desist. That’s nuts. I wonder what the legal technicalities truly are and if a case would stand up in their favor? I’m curious to know if there have been any type related lawsuits involving @typeface and a foundry yet.
