Structure 1.1 Released
Posted by: nGen Works on Thursday January 15, 2009
We just pushed the latest update to our ExpressionEngine module Structure – Version 1.1. This is the biggest addition since we released it last year. One of the most requested features has been to not have the module manage all weblogs. By default Structure used to take control of everything and sometimes this wasn’t optimal. As we built a way to turn them on and off we decided to allow a secondary type of Structure weblog we now call an “asset.” Assets are great for any kind of content clients or authors need to edit, but aren’t specific to a single page. Text callouts and sponsor banners are a few examples of global items that fit the bill. Sometimes you need elements that are shared across the entire site and now they can all be editable through the same sitemap interface.
We’ve also included a few other updates including pagination, a main navigation tag and quite a few new parameters to the existing tag base. Previously your main navigation had to be hard coded into templates and pagination was broken because we rely on custom URLs. Structure now includes custom tags for pagination and a strong set of parameters to control it’s output. The main navigation tag provides dynamic top level nav.
