Announcing: The Danger Room

Time to let our little secret out of the bag – The Danger Room!

As designers, Varick and I are always trying to stay inspired. We’re constantly looking for material to keep us motivated and moving forward. When it’s a production heavy week, full of CMSes and code, it can be really hard to get back into design mode when you need to.

As I blogged before we’ve been working to solve this problem. We’ve finally got the idea, framework and backend for our new project in place.

We plan to use it as a:

This will be our open arena for design exploration including illustration, typography, photography and sketches. Maybe more. Anything goes and over time we hope to amass a collection of varied inspirations and ideas that we’d like to think will pass on the inspiration to others.

Why The Danger Room?

For those of you not as geeky as us, The Danger Room is where the X-Men trained in the comic book. They would have “sessions” in The Danger Room to test themselves and improve their skills. This is exactly what we’re looking to do. Hopefully, you’ll see some of the skills and ideas developed here bleed into our client work.

Extra geeky note: For the ExpressionEngine template system/URL scheme we’ve used the word “session” so each post is one. WOW. Grab the RSS feed to see when new sessions are posted.
